Addressing the root causes of your weight gain and obesity

Did you know that heart disease, stroke and diabetes are the leading causes of early mortality in the developed world? Did you also know that these conditions are all directly linked to obesity, and that over one third of the world’s adult population is now clinically defined as overweight or obese, and at risk of these conditions?

However frightening the statistics, it is important to remember that these medical conditions are largely preventable, simply by taking control of your life and tackling your weight gain at its root

Balance of energy

The fundamental cause of obesity, and weight gain, is the energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended. This imbalance will vary from individual to individual, and needs to be fundamentally addressed if you are going to break your own cycle of yoyo dieting, and of gaining and then losing weight in a vicious cycle that prevents you from achieving your weight loss goals. The definition of insanity, after all, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Pulling out the root

For most of us, there is no conscious choice to be overweight. Our weight gain is generally a result of a lack of knowledge about the root causes of obesity. As a result, we try to tackle the symptoms and not the root causes of our condition. This ignorance is a silent killer that limits and endangers too many lives.
